Beginning Monday, July 10, crews will begin installing brick pavers on the pedestrian malls between Seventh and Eighth streets. Work will begin on the west side from Eighth street to approximately the alley. Once complete crews will move to the east side from Eighth Street to approximately the alley.
Crews will saw-cut and jackhammer approximately 2” of asphalt and concrete on the wing streets. Concrete will be removed and grated in sections from the store fronts to the new traffic bridge walls. Once grading is complete, crews will pour concrete in the area. The concrete will cure for approximately three days, and then brick layers will come lay the final herring bone pattern on the wing streets.
The brick pavers are the final installation in the downtown area. Crews anticipate this scope will be complete this Fall.
Pedestrians will use a 3-foot temporary turf walkway along the new traffic bridge walls during this time. When crews are in front of your business, a flagger will be there escorting visitors into the doorway. Crews will be in front of each business for one day during removals.
Saw-cutting and jack-hammering are noisy operations. Our crews are working as safely and quickly as possible to minimize noise impacts. Most of the work will be done between 7 AM and 5 PM, weekend work is possible.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION— Paver work will continue for several months.
